Export Policy for Agri Commodities May be Reviewed Soon

New Delhi, Aug. 26 The export policy for farm commodities such as wheat, rice and sugar may be reviewed by the government in August, once the monsoon situation gains clarity, the Minister of State for Food. Prof. K. V. Thomas said recently.

“We should wait till August,” the Minister responded when asked about the government’s stance on reviewing the farm export policy due to the delayed monsoon.

As a result of the deficient monsoon (the deficiency has been recorded at 21 per cent across the country till date), the sowing of major kharif crops like paddy, some pulses and oilseeds has been hampered.

Prof. Thomas said that the government is monitoring the monsoon situation and would decide on the export policy only after taking all aspects into account.
